  DESCRIPTION
The module is a very versatile component which forms very efficient groups of PC Clusters. It may be used on its own, in pairs, in lines around the perimeter of a room as well as a number of cluster settings. The modules have 800mm depth in the computer zone and this provides the optimum screen to eye distance. The unit is 1200mm wide and the desk area is 550mm deep for work materials. This design provides two distinct "zones". Students can take notes on the desk area or turn to work with the computer. There are a number of ways that the desks link to form clusters. In all configurations there are inbuilt threaded sockets below the desk surface to take junction plates that lock the modules rigidly together. When the modules are used in dedicated computer labs it is possible to arrange them in rows to allow for a minimum of visual obstruction to the front of the room. There are several options that enhance the desks. There is a pedestal platform that mounts at the junction of a four cell cluster and provides a shelf over the top of the monitors for printers etc. When pairs of desks link together, there is a fill panel that mounts between each pair and provides a lower shelf for books and a student's personal items. Tower computer cases can be fitted on a shelf that mounts below the desk at the end. The under desk shelf has a removable back to conceal cables but also has an allowance for ventilation.
CLUSTERS The drawing illustrates a four station cluster. The space in the centre of the cluster is designed for the pillar mounted shelf that can provide additional space for printers or student materials. The image below shows the amount of desk space each student has when 15" monitors are used. with towers mounted below the desks. In computer lab arrangements, the modules can link in pairs as shown below. The connector panel is a module that provides a lower shelf that extends into the space under the desk. This makes use of a space that would not otherwise be useful. The shelf can be seen in the image below. ![]() See more about the labs at Hale School. |
